"Look to the spine for the cause of disease" - Hippocrates

Manual Adjustments - Typically the manual adjustment is considered the most traditional way of improving movement within the spine. There are varying degrees of firmness that can be applied with a manual adjustment which often depends on the patients wants and needs. For many, a manual adjustment might not be needed to get significant relief. The following are a few other options that patients may want to consider that are all offered at the Crowfoot Chirocentre.

Activator Methods - Evolved from nearly 40 years of empirical study and 15 years of clinical research, the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) uses the latest advances in orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic examinations to seek joint dysfunction in the spinal column and extremities for improved patient care. AMCT uses the Activator Adjusting Instrument to give consistent low-force, high-speed chiropractic adjustments. Torque Release Technique® (TRT) - TRT utilizes the Integrator, which is a torque and recoil release adjusting instrument that combines the best of existing chiropractic techniques and principles, quantum physics, and the body/mind connection. Torque Release Technique is ideal for pregnant mothers, emotional drained patients, and people trying to overcome addictive qualities.

Muscle Release Techniques (MRT) - MRT is a specialized soft tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Every MRT session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The MRT provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.

Graston- Graston is a relatively new therapy that uses a stainless steal tool to break up tension, adhesion and scar tissue in various areas of the body. Furthermore Graston provides an inflammatory response to help create accelerated healing of the injured tendon or muscle belly. Graston is often used to treat many sports related injuries as well as chronic postural adhesions in the back and neck.

Blair Upper Cervical - The Blair chiropractic technique is a specific system of analyzing and adjusting the upper cervical vertebrae of the spinal column. When these vertebrae misalign in such a way as to interfere with the brain stem and spinal cord as they exit through the floor of the skull and into the neural canal. Special attention is given to the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, as they are the most freely moveable vertebrae in the spinal column and the ones most commonly misaligned.

Pregnancy - Pregnant mothers have found great relief from low back pain during their pregnancies with regular chiropractic care. Patients are placed on their side and manual or activator methods are used to gently adjust the spine and relax muscles that cause low back pain. Even after birth mothers and their newborns will continue with chiropractic care to ensure that both mother and child are free from any nerve interference that is caused during the stresses of the birthing process. The massage therapists also work with expecting mothers giving them relief from the aches and pains of child bearing.
