Achieving maximum results through care and compassion

Dr. Matthew Sheppard

Dr. Matthew J Sheppard graduated in 2012 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. After graduation Dr. Sheppard moved back home and practiced at a very busy practice in South Calgary. Now in 2016, Matthew and his wife Diana are looking to make roots in the NW.

“I want all my patients to receive individualized treatments. What works well for some doesn’t always work well for others. I am gentle enough to work on infants and the elderly but I can be firm enough to get the big guys moving. My key to success has been simple, always put the patients first and go the extra mile to accelerate the healing process. So talk to me about more than just your back pain, I am trained to treat the entire body with special soft tissue visits such as Graston or Muscle Release Therapy”.

Dr. Standish is passionate about the overall health and wellbeing of her patients.

Evan Thompson

Evan’s background in sports and his passion for helping people lead him to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).  He received 2200 hours of training from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton Alberta, and an additional 800 hours of training from Okanagan Valley Collage of Massage Therapy in Vernon BC before coming to join the Thrive team.  He continues to seek advanced knowledge in muscle energy techniques and manual lymph drainage.  Evan is also a current member of the NHPC.

Although his specialty is providing therapeutic massages at a medium/deep depth, he also provides great relaxation massages, Swedish massages, trigger point work and myofascial release. His care and professionalism goes beyond the massage itself, providing basic assessments at the beginning of the massage and making post treatment stretches and exercise suggestions for his clients to do between sessions.

LESLIE JALKOTZY R.M.T.  C.L.T.

I was first introduced to Massage Therapy/Therapeutic Bodywork training while working in California training horses in the early 90’s.  Originally this training was taken to help my riding students achieve higher performance levels, and of course to work out some of the aches and pains associated with that level of riding and competition.

This training, combined with my specialty of healing abused and damaged horses eventually morphed into starting one of the first Therapeutic Riding Programs in Alberta, and later into Equine Assisted Learning programs.

Over the years, the horse training has taken second place to my Massage practice, which has been my full time priority for over 10 years.  During this time, I have taken many courses and additional certifications to upgrade and add more ‘tools’ to my tool belt, and include advanced training in: Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, LILT (Cold) Laser therapy, R.A.P.I.D. Adhesion Release Technique, Therapeutic Cupping, Trigger Point Therapy, Gau Sha (like Graston), Reiki and coming soon, Low Intensity Light Therapy (cold laser).

Although my specialty is Intense Deep Tissue therapy and Sports Massage, most recently I have begun the process of training in Clinical Somatic Education, to become a certified Somatics Practitioner and Educator.  This gentle practice transcends the solely physical to re-habituate the mind/body connection to alleviate the Sensory Motor Amnesia and the resulting chronic pain, that so many of us suffer from.

I look forward to combining all of these treatment tools to help you live your most pain free and ‘ageless’ life possible!

When not in the clinic you will find me spending time with my two beautiful grown children or with my equine friends – because the world does look better from the back of a horse!!

Laurel Wilson

Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant

Laurel Wilson is a local Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant from Cochrane, AB. Her passion for health and wellness began after high school, when she soon started learning the detrimental effects, and health risks that the diet she was consuming, the standard american diet, had on her. The more she learned, the more she wanted to learn. It wasn’t long before she completed her certification for Holistic Nutrition through the Canadian School Of Natural Nutrition in Calgary, AB. After completion, she realized how important and imperative it is that she share the knowledge she had learned with others. With the massive increase in diet related illness’s across North America, Laurel feels that the more people that get educated, the better we can all become as a whole. A clean, balanced, nutritious diet should be easy and available to everyone, and that is what Laurel looks to accomplish.
