LESLIE JALKOTZY
Registered Massage Therapist/ Certified Laser Technician
I was first introduced to Massage Therapy/Therapeutic Bodywork training while working in California training horses in the early 90’s. Originally this training was taken to help my riding students achieve higher performance levels, and of course to work out some of the aches and pains associated with that level of riding and competition.
This training, combined with my specialty of healing abused and damaged horses eventually morphed into starting one of the first Therapeutic Riding Programs in Alberta, and later into Equine Assisted Learning programs.
Over the years, the horse training has taken second place to my Massage practice, which has been my full time priority for over 10 years. During this time, I have taken many courses and additional certifications to upgrade and add more ‘tools’ to my tool belt, and include advanced training in: Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, LILT (Cold) Laser therapy, R.A.P.I.D. Adhesion Release Technique, Therapeutic Cupping, Trigger Point Therapy, Gau Sha (like Graston), Reiki and coming soon, Low Intensity Light Therapy (cold laser).
Although my specialty is Intense Deep Tissue therapy and Sports Massage, most recently I have begun the process of training in Clinical Somatic Education, to become a certified Somatics Practitioner and Educator. This gentle practice transcends the solely physical to re-habituate the mind/body connection to alleviate the Sensory Motor Amnesia and the resulting chronic pain, that so many of us suffer from.
I look forward to combining all of these treatment tools to help you live your most pain free and ‘ageless’ life possible!
When not in the clinic you will find me spending time with my two beautiful grown children or with my equine friends – because the world does look better from the back of a horse!!
